first problem:
1 /(a-b)  - 3/(a+b)
________________

2/(b-a)  +  4/(b+a)

I've been working on it for over week and can't get the answer of (2b-a)/(a-3b) to work out?

second probelm:

(1-8x^-3)/(x^-1 +2x^-2 +4x^-3)  again a=have tried a million times and nothing loooks like the answer of x-2?

Please help I'm a back to college student after taking a 20 year break and can't remeber this stuff from before! Thanks to any and all. Heidi

#3 Re: Help Me ! » Solving the Equations with Square Roots(SQRT) » 2006-05-14 20:08:43

Thanks for the help but I used the wrong number after the = sign it should read

(Sqrt)of (3/2X-5) -10=-8 so I get
(sqrt) of (3/2x-5)=2 so then I get
3/2x-5=4 then
3/2x=9 then
3x=18
x=6

Thanks a bunch for the help! K

34. (sqrt)3{5(sqrt)s +(sqrt)3} I come up with 8(sqrt)6  am I on the right track or do I need to buy a whole new train??

38 {(sqrt)c +d}{3+(sqrt)5} I get 8(sqrt)6+3d+d(sqrt)5????

Last one 14/{60 -(sqrt)578} no idea where to start even??

Any and all help would be great but I'd rather get started in the right directions over just getting the answers...thank again! Adunno

#6 Re: Help Me ! » Solving Radical Equations » 2006-05-04 20:48:18

First ones answer is x= 8 and -9...corret ??? but the other one I can get anywher with is at alk..
I get this
(2x)(x+7) - (x) (3+3) = (y^2 -1)
then I get (2x^2 +14 x)(x-3x) = (y^2 -1) but then I keep getting zero on both side???? Help please!!!

1. 8/(x+4) +1 = 5x/(x^2-2x-24)

2. 2x(x+3) -  x/(x+7) = (x^2-1)/(x^2+10x+21)

Any one able to show me where to start after figuring out the LDC would be my hero for the day!

The LDC for 1 is (x-6)(x+4)
and far 2 it's (x+3)(x+7) correct?

#8 Re: Help Me ! » math project!:) » 2006-05-01 17:49:13

I think I;ve got these right but mom's gone for the week and dad won't even look at math over 4th grade??? So please if any one could tell me if I have these right and just tell me which are wrong so I can try firguring the ones I have wrong again! APB   The instructions on 2-58 just say Simplifiy the Expression...

1.(x+3)/(x^3-x^2-6x) Divided by  ((x^2-9)/ x^2+x-12)= (x+4)/ (x)(x+2)(x-3)

2. (x^3+x^2)/(x^2-16)  *  (x+4)/(3x^4+x^3-2x^2) = 1/(x-4)

3.(12x-4)/(x-1)  +  (4x)/(x-1) = 48x

4. (5)/(2x^2)  + (4)/(3x)  =  (8x+15)/(6x^2)

5. (4)/(x+3)  +  (3x)/(x-2) = (3x^2+4x+1)/(x^2 +x-6) Should I simplifiy that down  to (3x+1)(x+1)/(x+3)(x-2) or not???

6. (5x+1)/(x-3) - (2x)/(x-1)  =  (7x^2-4x-3)/(x^2-4x+3)  I haven't broken it down as I can't tell if I;m suppose to?

I just gave them number 1-6 out of 56 I have done! The rest look right but these 6 I'm not sure on!

Again please just tell me if I'm right as I really want to figure them out by myself! Thanks... APB
