Good ol' FBI. Can't live with them, can't live without them.
Oh i see, thanks bobbym
How can you convert a graph of z = g(x,y) into a parametric representation of two variables?
Use Stokes' Theorem to evaluate
.Stokes' Theorem:
Can someone please show me the steps you would take, since I'm still quite confused about surface integration
thanks
The moon is moving away from us at about 3.8cm per year.
Now I am sure that my shoddy calculations are inaccurate, but that means that the 'outwards' kinetic energy of the moon is
The energy released by by one B41 (Mk-41) nuclear bomb (the most powerful ever built), is 25 megatons.
Now, even if we allow for a ridiculous amount of heat loss, the energy released by this nuclear bomb is still many orders of magnitude greater than the 'outwards' kinetic energy of the moon.
So if only one of these bombs were exploded on the far side of the moon, it could reverse the moon's outwards movement and make it start moving towards the earth.
In fact, assuming 99% conversion to thermal energy, the speed of moon will be 5.33 km per year inwards. Not very fast - but it is on a collision course with earth. However, the bomb could also disturb the orbit of the moon, which will affect the climate on earth. In addition, the governments of the world will undoubtedly have built more and more powerful weapons, so a 'war for the moon' could be apocalyptic.
First you must convert them to improper fractions:
Let a,b, and c be numbers. Then
So
andThen you multiply the tops and bottoms of the improper fractions:
We can cancel a 3 from the top and bottom:
Sometimes when I wake up in the middle of the night with all the curtains drawn, I have fun imagining that my room has been tossed into space, and that if I open any doors I will be flung out into deep space. Variants on this include the world outside suffering from nuclear fallout, bricks filling the doorway, like in the matrix, or space being curved, so that exiting through one door will mean entering through the other. When I am imagining this and the night is dead silent, it almost feels real. It feels pretty cool but also a bit scary.
What if one night I wake to find out that my imaginings have become reality? To think that your mind can mold reality is a pretty scary thought.

Jane's times are amazing!
When the object hits the ground again h = 0.
To find the value of t at that time, solve:
But when t = 0 represents the time it is launched, so the value of t when it lands is 8.
Hi
I would just like everyone to know I am not bobbym
ah, ok thanks jane
Can someone please help me wih this proof of Cauchy-schwarz?
It says "the quadratic equation in lambda has no real solution"
But why is that?
thanks

Using the chain rule,

lol yeah I guess i'm worrying too much about it, I don't know why but I'm quite self-conscious about it
Three men are in a hot-air balloon. Soon, they find themselves lost in a canyon somewhere. One of the three men says, "I've got
an idea. We can call for help in this canyon and the echo will carry our voices far."
So he leans over the basket and yells out, "Helllloooooo! Where are we?" (They hear the echo several times).
15 minutes later, they hear this echoing voice: "Helllloooooo! You're lost!!"
One of the men says, "That must have been a mathematician."
Puzzled, one of the other men asks, "Why do you say that?" The
reply: "For three reasons.
(1) he took a long time to answer,
(2) he was absolutely correct, and
(3) his answer was absolutely useless."
Recently everyone got their scores for their end of year exams and I got a pretty high scores which I'm over the moon with. However, lots of my friends weren't so lucky. Then again, some of my friends also did better than me.
Sometimes when I chat with some of my less fortunate friends about results I feel that mentioning mine after theirs is being a bit harsh and unfriendly somehow...
"Well I got xx%"
"Congratz, that's a great score! I got yy%" // Implying my score is greater
That's in the good cases. In the bad cases when I can tell they're upset about their results, what can I do?? In those cases do I congratulate them for their results, or would they take offense?? If I mention my score I feel I could be discouraging them. And if they ask me for it then I'm not sure how to put a dampener on it if you know what I mean.
"Man I'm so gutted, I got xx%"
" " // if i say 'hey congratz', it sounds wrong, and if i say 'man that drags', it sounds insulting
"How did you go?"
" " // now i will sound ever ruder
i will never understand socialising
how do nerds deal with it? (and i don't mean sheldon nerds)
Thanks so much soroban and avon! I shouldn't do maths too late at night
Let
There are 4 ways to do this by integration by parts, are they equivalent?
and... i could go on and do
dv = e^{3x}dx, u = e^{3x}
dv = e^{3x}dx, dv = e^{3x}dx
But too much algebra and my head hurts
Anyway, why do they give different answers??
Gah! Of course! I made an arithmetic error which made it unsolvable. thanks bobbym
Stewart Calculus said
"You may rest assured that the integrals in the following exercises are all elementary functions."
I have tried solving it but I keep coming to dead ends.
My calculator couldn't solve it, so somehow I doubt it's elementary, can someone please tell me?
I think a possible solution to this is smaller classrooms. Last year my physics classroom had 13 people, and it made a remarkable difference. Our teacher was able to chat with us and become friends, and that really made the classroom atmosphere more enjoyable. Right now, with big classrooms, teachers can only really act as mechanical robots, reading out the curriculum. They have too many people to deal with and don't have time to make learning fun.
When I am studying by myself it's true I learn better, but it's hard to muster the discipline to learn and not play games or waste my life in some other procrastinatory way. I don't think strict homeschooling is a good idea either though, because there is the risk that you turn your home into place 'you don't want to be'. I think school is necessary because it helps teach diligence... hmmm it's tricky
The definitions are:
They are partially related to the usual trig functions in that they interact similarly
etc
Usually you won't encounter them until university calculus
