The ones in the original post. Barbie, he is a teacher.

Something made me think MIF did not write the physcis and chemistry pages and apparently, according to Agnishom, some Subash Chandra Poudel wrote them...

#1329 Re: Science HQ » Cell Division » 2013-06-04 00:27:43

It depends. I find some parts of maths and science easy and some insanely arduous. Obviously math requires just as much problem-solving skills as the sciences, hence I find it impossible to compare the to subjects. To add to that, Science has 3 main classifications which are related only barely while math has multiple sub-classes which are definitely related. 1100th post by the way.

The number of d-electrons is not equal to that of p-electrons in CI(Z = 17).
6.023 x 1019 for the second question. Also, tjis?

#1331 Re: Science HQ » Science HQ » 2013-06-03 03:03:17

Just saying, are the physics and chemistry pages a bit too complicated, at least relative to the math and biology pages?

#1332 Re: Science HQ » Chem Homework! » 2013-06-03 02:55:37

n is the number which describes the orbital size

#1333 Re: Science HQ » Chem Homework! » 2013-06-03 02:48:40

Agnishom, you know how in the Bohr model there is only 1 quantum # for the electron configuration? A model called Schrodinger's model let us see the electron distribution in 3d space. That of course needed 3 coordinates which are called quantum numbers. Principal, magnetic and angular. In this case, n=4, l=0, ml=0, ms=-1/2 is right as it is showing an electron in the fourth energy level of orbital s. Also, mind translating that German?

Now that we have a science hq section..... My prof. gave me lot's of chem work for since I am going to my high school.  Need someone to check them. Thank-you in advance.

1  The atomic masses in the periodic table are not integral numbers. For example, carbon is listed as 12.011 amu (atomic mass unit) instead of 12.000 amu. Why?(we were given a couple of options to select from)

Atomic masses listed in the periodic table are weighted averages of isotopic masses.

2  Screening by core electrons in atoms is    _____

more efficient than that by valence electrons

3   According to the Valence Shell Electron Pair Repulsion theory, if there are 5 pairs of electrons in the valence shell of an atom, they will be arranged in a(n) _____ geometry.

trigonal bipyramidal

4   What is the mass in grams of 10.0 million H2O molecules?

2.990 X 10^-16

5   Which of the following is a valid set of quantum numbers?

n=4, l=0, ml=0, ms=-1/2

6   Phenol red has an indicator pH range of 6.8 to 8.4. Its acid color is yellow and basic color is red. In 0.10 M NaOH, this indicator will exhibit what color? red

7   Determine the volume (in liters) occupied by 8.0 g oxygen at STP (MW of O2 = 32 g/mol)    5.6

8   What do you call gases that do not conform to the ideal gas laws?  real gases

9   Which of the following terms is used to describe the amount of heat present in a substance?
enthalpy

10   How many grams of phosphoric acid (98 g/mol) are in 175 mL of a 3.5 M solution of phosphoric acid?   60

What language is that?

#1336 Re: Science HQ » Chemistry » 2013-06-03 02:23:57

Chemistry is an enthralling subject. Sure it is my least favorite science however I still love it. Bobbym, nowadays, at least in MIT, we only have about 13 labs.

I am a bit late and did not get to check out sciencehq at it's release but it is fantastic. I was waiting for you to do science and this is great!

Thanks; what I wanted though is the flux of the vector field.

#1340 Re: Help Me ! » basic calculus » 2013-05-29 03:46:24

7/3, I for one was so excited about learning calculus was purely for the sake of learning. I had no interest in calculus whatsoever, at least not at the start. Later on as time progressed, I became much more attracted to calculus. And what I meant by pressure was the constant fear of not getting in to a top university, or not achieving a 100% average.

#1341 Re: Computer Math » Parahexagon and Geogebra » 2013-05-29 03:42:19

You do not know who -He who must not be named- is?

#1342 Re: Help Me ! » basic calculus » 2013-05-29 03:36:47

That's true until you hit university. Until then, I was bored but I have to participate due to pressure.

#1343 Re: Help Me ! » basic calculus » 2013-05-29 03:30:42

Some age to be problem solving.

#1344 Re: Help Me ! » Please help me » 2013-05-29 01:55:15

No, there was another post by a guest today on this thread which was composed of weird symbols only.

#1345 Re: Dark Discussions at Cafe Infinity » Please Help me... » 2013-05-29 01:53:07

That's funny... Anyways, does your father work abroad? Also, I wouldn't worry too much about it if I were you.

She says she has a signature?

#1349 Re: Introductions » Well, hello there. » 2013-05-29 01:41:30

In my preferences, I have blocked emoticons and signatures.

Most likely it is am impersonator. I highly doubt that even the scummiest of actors would do such a thing.
