Re: How old are you bobbym?

They are sometimes called rice balls? Maybe you've heard of them?

Re: How old are you bobbym?

Do I pelt people with them or do I eat them?

Re: How old are you bobbym?

First they look larger than a snowball. Second rice gets hard quickly. Third what goes on top?

Re: How old are you bobbym?

I've seen some people use... sesame seed I think. Plus you run salt on your hands when you make them.

Also, they can have fillings.

Re: How old are you bobbym?

Umeboshi is one really common one. Its Japanese pickled plum. I've never tried it, but I think its rather sour. Also salted salmon or canned tuna are possibilities.

I've also heard of leeks being used, and I think cod.

I make mine plain usually, but I've made it with salmon or cooked spam. I've never heard spam being used before, but it works really well. I just dab it so it isn't so greasy, and chop into little chunks.

Re: How old are you bobbym?

Stuffing it with tuna sounds good. Actually I have never thought of tuna and rice. Maybe you could put chicken in there?

Chicken and rice are a good mix. You do not like chicken?

Yeah. I just can't really picture it in a ball with rice and seaweed.

You did not mention the seaweed. Chicken goes with everything.

Nope. That makes sense though. But that should give you and idea of how big they are. You've seen the rectangular seaweed strips before right?

Re: How old are you bobbym?

Oh. Well they are rectangular. And I don't have any in my house right now, but if I had to guess, I'd say the short sides are 1 and a half to 2 inches long, and the long sides are about 4 or 5 inches long.

Re: How old are you bobbym?

Yes. Seaweed strips that are flat and thin. They get softer and limp when wet and naturally stick to Japanese rice, so the adhere to the onigiri's shape and stay there, and go back to they're original crunchiness.

Re: How old are you bobbym?

Yes, I remember reading about it. I just assumed it was like ordinary white rice. I take it that it is not...
