Old, 0 post usersYou know how when you go to the user list you see all these novices with 0 posts? Aren't they clogging up the server? Wasn't it annoying when you tried to register with a username, but it was taken by someone with 0 posts? Why not delete not-so-new accounts with 0 posts? That way: I'll be here at least once every month. XP #2 2010-04-14 13:59:39
Re: Old, 0 post usersYes, good idea, but would also need to be careful not to delete someone who visits sometimes but has never posted. "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #3 2010-04-14 22:01:46
Re: Old, 0 post usersIf they visit but do not post, they don’t need to register as a member and so their username can be deleted anyway. Use common sense. #4 2010-04-14 22:35:51
Re: Old, 0 post usersHi; In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #5 2010-04-14 23:21:53
Re: Old, 0 post users
well... on some free forum X, even if i don't post, i'd register myself so that i can easily point out the new posts from the old already visited ones every time i log in! If two or more thoughts intersect with each other, then there has to be a point. #6 2010-04-15 07:45:13

Re: Old, 0 post userslet us say that the server has three (or more) Lookup Tables If two or more thoughts intersect with each other, then there has to be a point. #9 2010-04-16 00:27:35
Re: Old, 0 post users
Then they can just re-register, can’t they? #10 2010-04-16 00:37:34

before getting deleted again!!? If two or more thoughts intersect with each other, then there has to be a point. #11 2010-04-16 01:12:44#12 2010-04-16 02:05:48

Re: Old, 0 post usersYeah! Delete ALL members ... but will it be faster if there is no one there? "The physicists defer only to mathematicians, and the mathematicians defer only to God ..." - Leon M. Lederman #14 2012-05-26 08:29:01
Re: Old, 0 post usersAhhh,I have always been wondering about this. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #15 2012-10-09 23:57:47
Re: Old, 0 post usersI know I might not be an administrator or anything, but I more agree with mathisfun on this (just as a third party opinion I guess). Everytime you delete a member for "inactivity" it discourages and/or frustrates those who actually do plan on doing something eventually, on top of that, it can lead other potential people who are interested in something like this forum away. I myself was inactive for, I'm pretty sure for over 6 months, and I think I had less then 5 posts. Now if I came back and found out my account was deleted, I as a normal member would be pretty annoyed. I don't know if I really made my point that clear, and possibly said more arguable things, but I am only trying to say overall when websites, forums, etc. do things like that, they in turn lose potential members, and was ... at least trying to explain reasons for this, hope I didn't do that bad of a job... Life isn’t a simple Math: there are always other variables. -[unknown] But Nature flies from the infinite, for the infinite is unending or imperfect, and Nature ever seeks an end. -Aristotle #16 2012-12-10 11:39:10

Re: Old, 0 post usersI currently favor deleting all accounts that are inactive for more than a millisecond. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Re: Old, 0 post usersSo, basically, you would like to delete all members on the forum.. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #19 2012-12-10 12:56:57
Re: Old, 0 post usersOf course not! Just the ones who are can not post 1000 posts a second. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #20 2012-12-10 13:23:55
Re: Old, 0 post usersAnd since nobody can do that, the whole membership of the forumm would be deleted, including you and MIF! The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #21 2012-12-10 13:33:24
Re: Old, 0 post usersOh yes me too! MIF can not be deleted. Just imagine, when we signed up again and got to introduce ourselves all over again. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #22 2012-12-10 13:35:31
Re: Old, 0 post usersIt would be something like rebooting the whole forum. The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #23 2012-12-10 13:39:09
Re: Old, 0 post usersI copy many threads down for my notes. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. Probability is the most important concept in modern science, especially as nobody has the slightest notion what it means. 90% of mathematicians do not understand 90% of currently published mathematics. #24 2012-12-10 13:52:53
Re: Old, 0 post usersI mean, would they stay on the forum after the "rebooting"? The limit operator is just an excuse for doing something you know you can't. “It's the subject that nobody knows anything about that we can all talk about!” ― Richard Feynman “A secret's worth depends on the people from whom it must be kept.” ― Carlos Ruiz Zafón #25 2012-12-10 13:57:41
Re: Old, 0 post usersI certainly would not. I mean I have put up with alot of bobbym's antics but that I would not tolerate. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
