Alas! It is not and I was just going to say that

Maybe I need three primes

If Goldbach is correct you only need two!

Mine isn't even

I am sorry, I just edited that post

it can be computed quickly enough and you will not need that table.

That sounds very wonderful. Music to ears.

How do you do that?

How big are your telephone numbers? I mean how many digits?

Will you ask me to go for wolfram?

Ever heard this story?

Cole announced a talk "On the Factorisation of Large Numbers".

He walked up to the blackboard without saying a word, calculated by hand the value of 2^67, carefully subtracted 1. Then he multiplied two numbers (which were 193707721 and 761838257287).

Both results written on the blackboard were equal. Cole silently walked back to his seat, and this is said to be the first and only talk held during an AMS meeting where the audience applauded. There were no questions.

No, It just passed tangentially over my head

They were expecting a proof... He just did the computation and sat down. Numbers do not lie.

Yes, I would send you to the computer. Is there any other way to do this? I mean mathematicians have been baffled by this problem since Euler.

There isn't. I agree.

But I would love to know the algorithm

Probably T and E strengthened with your prime table idea!

What are T and E?

One of two of the most powerful ideas in human history, Trial and Error and Guessing!

So whats the secret of doing the goldbach decomposition without a table?

I would definitely use a table!

That is what I thought originally but I think a table is a good idea.

**In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.**

It takes a lot of time to build that.

You can download them and it is very likely that you will find two primes with one of them being small.

**In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.**

If I run a program to build that table now, how likely is it that it will finish when I wake up?

I just remembered that I already have all primes upto 33554393

You will gamble that the one of the primes is small, say less than 10000. So the table will be small and quick to generate. You will be done quickly.

Hi;

So just start looping with 2 loops through them.

One going top to bottom and the other bottom to top?
