Re: Correspondence ChessHi; In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #53 20131027 04:49:43

Re: Correspondence ChessIt proved that I am bad at multitasking 'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.' Re: Correspondence ChessNot really. You did well. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #61 20131027 05:45:42

Re: Correspondence ChessI would say so. It is a slow process usually. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #63 20131027 16:47:39
Re: Correspondence ChessOkay, you'll answer one question? 'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.' Re: Correspondence ChessNo. Atleast one. 'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.' I am not sure I am following you. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #67 20131027 17:06:56

Re: Correspondence ChessHi;
When I was you age, I was able to play blindfold chess. As a matter of fact, I could play 4 games against 4 different people at once. This is quite common among chess players. It was banned in Russia at about that time because they believed it causes brain exhaustion. Of course this was a stupid reaction to the lives of Alexander Alekhine, Harry Nelson Pillsbury and Robert J. Fischer. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #69 20131027 17:20:17
Re: Correspondence ChessWhat is blindfold chess? 'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.' Re: Correspondence ChessThe other person has a board and pieces and you do not. You must visualize the position in your mind. This is not as difficult as it sounds. I could do four boards at the same time. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #71 20131027 17:27:35
Re: Correspondence ChessOk, How do I do that? 'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.' 'God exists because Mathematics is consistent, and the devil exists because we cannot prove it' 'Who are you to judge everything?' Alokananda #72 20131027 17:31:15
Re: Correspondence ChessIt showed me a technique but I did not like it. I just could do it. Of course, A. Alekhine could play 33 blindfold games at once at a much higher level. When I was young the record was 47 by George Koltanowski. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #73 20131027 17:36:58
Re: Correspondence ChessWhy does the question of siddhis arise? 'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.' Re: Correspondence ChessMinor little abilities that seem amazing but are really not that important. I call them little siddhis. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
