You can not succeed on an Olympiad by online resources. You need books.

I have to go to the Doctor today to have my eyesight checked. For some reason, I see "Real Member" under Agnishom.

Anyway, have to go to my private classes. Bye.

I do not think any established member on this forum would mind.

Do real members have privileges apart from the title and private messaging?

I haven't gotten my name changed yet, but I am planning to in a week.

I don't see the need for it, but lowering it for Real Members isn't going to harm the forum's security much.

The fact that you searched that makes you abnormal.

Change that to 1-2 minutes then.

Waiting 30 seconds is still half as difficult. And it usually takes me one minute to load the page, type the post etc.

Are we allowed to use a calculator? The only way of solving

#4991. Find the greatest number of five digits which is a perfect square.

in 10 seconds is by taking the square root of 99999 and then squaring 316.

I do not see the point of keeping such a limit at all or lowering it. For GiB and company, it doesn't make a difference if they post nonsense once a minute or as fast as they can type. For the regular members, waiting one minute it not that difficult either.

Okay, because I thought I was missing something.

That edition is fine.

I need to study English so I can pass the test. I need to do the school certificate as it's a requirement to get into higher education. Here we learn basic physics with just algebra. It covers concepts like kinematics which includes position, displacement, velocity, vectors. Plus other basic concepts like waves, optics, eletricity etc. To answer your two questions, yes I'll be going through it page by page, but no, I probably wont go through Algebra by Gelfand. I'll definitely go through Basic Mathematics & Geometry by Serge Lang. It also looks like I might not be able to afford that precalculus book even though it looks good.

How do you plan on going to university without algebra?

Here is a list of books I compiled which you have to go through to get a good understanding and be prepared for university mathematics.
Basic Mathematics by Lang
Elementary and Intermediate Algebra by Sullivan (this is one book - there are two separate books as well but get the book with both of them)
Precalculus by Sullivan
Geometry by Jacobs (1st or 2nd edition)

I need a little explanation on how 4990 can be done in about 10 seconds.

#400 Re: Dark Discussions at Cafe Infinity » Problems with discipline » 2014-05-24 13:33:25

That's the problem. Forget the ISBN or cover - buy any book entitled Precalculus by Sullivan any edition.
