Discuss the domain of the following vector valued function;
⇒ ^ ^ ^
r =√t+1 i +(t²+1)j +(lnt)k
You do that by looking at the domain of the three functions that it is composed of.
If any of the three functions are undefined for some value of t, then the vector is also undefined.
√t +1 is undefined for negative t, so t has to be 0 or positive.
t² + 1 is defined everywhere, so that's not a problem.
ln t is defined only for positive t.
Therefore, the vector r is defined when t is strictly positive.
(This assumes that complex numbers don't get involved)
Why did the vector cross the road?
It wanted to be normal.
