Solving an equality with two > signs

Hi all!!!!!!!!!!!1
Please help me understand how to solve this inequality

2x > x + 10 > -x

here is what I did

subtract 10 from each side to get 2x - 10 > x > -x -10
subtract x from each side to get 2x - x -10 > x-x > -x -x -10
                                               x-10  > 0 > -2x -10

then x-10 >0  leading to x> 10

also 0 > -2x - 10  then im stuck.  does my attempt at a solution make any sense at all?

Re: Solving an equality with two > signs

Hi cbmcbm;

Welcome to the forum!

I would have done this.
Break it into 2 parts:

2x > x + 10

x > 10

The second part.

x + 10 > - x

2x + 10 >0

2x > -10

x > -5

Answer x > 10

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.
