7th grade mathh

How do i find the missing number to a triangle. the question says,

The sum of th lengths of the sides of triangle ABC is 25 in. The lengths of AB and BC are 9 in and 8 in. Find the length of side AC??

PLEASE helpp mehhh!!!! hmm

Hi lovepuppy;

Welcome to the forum!

Now you know that all 3 sides when added ( sum ) are 25 inches. You know that one side is 9 inches the other side is 8 inches. There are 3 sides to a triangle. So if 8 + 9 = 17 inches for the two sides all you have to do is subtract from the 25 inches.

25 - 17 = 8. The remaining side AC is 8 inches.
