I am looking for a CAS available for free download. Currently installing Maxima, but are there any other good ones?

What OS are you running?

How about Sage?

Or Mathematica?

Actually, the OP is talking about free softwares

Mathematica isn't free

Geogebra also comes with a faster updating maxima built in.

Mathematica 8 is not free (but I probably can find an illegal free version). Anyways, I am running Windows 8. Maxima is slightly confusing. Anyone know of a good tutorial? I like Maxima as I am currently doing a lot on Linear Algebra. I will try Sage. Is Geogebra only for geometry?

I also used Maxima. It is very nice!

Geogebra comes bundled with a weaker form of Maxima. What is the problem with Maxima?

There is no problem with it. Why?

Those are all good suggestions. In the right hands anyone of them can get the job done. Download one and start getting your hands dirty.

I already have my "alternative" to Mathematica.

Well, with Maxima it took me close to 4 hours to calculate 2+2; I consistently pressed enter and then, with aid from the "10 minute tutorial", realized to press Shift-Enter.
