Hello, I submitted a lesson which was graded and I had six incorrect problems out of twenty that I need to revise for a grade so here they are:

1.

C.

D.

E.

F. cannot be factored

D.
(this is my revised answer, my original answer was A.)

5.

A.

B.

C.

D.

E.

F. cannot be factored

E.
(marked incorrect)

12.

A.

C.

D.

E.

F. cannot be factored

Not sure where to go from here. My original guess was A.

14.

F. cannot be factored

A.
(marked incorrect)

16.

A.

(revised answer, my original answer was D.)

17.

Any help on the incorrect ones and checking on the revised ones would be much appreciated smile

Re: Factoring Polynomials of a Higher Degree

Thank you, I had hoped I had figured that one out. Any idea on the others? Also, if you could tell me how to get the answer for the ones I have not figured out that would be great.

Thanks! Also, I would like to know how you got your answers for 5, 12, and 14.

Re: Factoring Polynomials of a Higher Degree

Generally by exploiting the weaknesses of the problems.

In some cases I expanded the ones I thought might be right. In other cases I plugged in small numbers to determine equality.

Probably not fast enough for tests but I assumed you only wanted me to check.

Re: Factoring Polynomials of a Higher Degree

I noticed in 5 and 14 my error was that I did not factor the sum of squares resulting from the original sum of squares.

However, I'm still at a loss on 12.
