About Circles

Hi;
I am having problems getting the answer;

An arc substends angle of 60° of the centre of a circle of radius 14cm.
(a) Find the perimeter of major sector

I had 76.67 as the answer but not sure - please confirm.
Many thanks!

Re: About Circles

Hi EbenezerSon,

The answer is wrong.

The Perimeter of Major Sector = Length of Major Arc + ( 2 * radius).

Length of Major Arc = [(360 - 60) / 360] * [ 2 * (22/7) * radius ].

Solve it , you will get the answer .

It is not the problem that matters but the courage you bring into solving it.

Re: About Circles

Hi;

Are you using the approximation pi = 3.14159 or 22 / 7? Either way that answer is close but not correct.

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.
