slope am i right

find the slope of the line that passes through th epoints (1,4)and(-1,6)

i have to the same way in this problem liek they did in that example?

Find the slope of the line that passes through the points (-3,5) and (-5,-8).
First find the slope:   m = y1 - y2 / x1 - x2

m = 5 - (-8)     13
     ----------- =---- = 6.5
       -3 - (-5)     2

Using either point:  (-3,5)
Remember the form:  y - y1 = m ( x - x1)
Substitute:  y - 5 = 6.5 ( x - (-3))
                  y - 5 = 6.5 (x + 3)  Ans.

Re: slope am i right

Yes, just the first part.
2 points:  (1,4) and (-1,6)
4 and 6 are 2 apart.
That is the y distance apart.
1 and -1 are 2 apart.
This is the x distance apart.
So the slope is either 2/2 or -2/2, you decide, I'm just getting you started in the right direction.
If line goes up to the right, it is positive slope.
If line goes down to the right it is negative slope.
If line goes down to the left it is positive slope.
If line goes up to the left, it is negative slope.
