how do you know where to put brackets to make these problems true.


1a)  5-1²×4-2=62

b) 5-1²×4-2=-1

First we have to do the powers.

So the answer would be

a) 5 - 1 x 4 - 2 = 62

Then we have to do the multiplication.

that is, 5-4-2 = 62.

Then we have to simplify as usual.

similaly the second.
