Hexagon

the length of a side of a regular hexagon is 4cm
what is the radius of the circle that can be circumscribed about this hexagon?

hexagon is a 6 sided shape,

if you take a circle, and split it into 6 equal segments, then join the edges (see pic) you get 6 triangles with angles of 360/6 degrees (that is 60degrees) that create the hexagon, since the triangles are isoceles (since the two lengths from centre are the same), the other two angles are the same, and must be 60 degrees (Angle in triangle add to 180) so these triangles are infact equilateral, in an equilateral triangle, all sides are the same, so if the length of a side of a regular hexagon is 4cm. the radius of the circle that contains it, also has a radius of 4cm.
