Divisibility

I was reading this number theory book and there was part where it gave

and it said "Since ac is divisible by b according to our assumption, this relation shows that

is divisible by b.

But how???

If ac is divisible by b, ac plus or minus any multiple of b is also divisible by b. In particular, r[sub]1[/sub]c = acq[sub]1[/sub]bc is divisible by b.
