Re: write 7/3 as a whole or mixed number

a whole number, is one with no fractional part. like 3, 5, 6, and 12 etc
a mixed number, is one that is represented as a whole number, and a fraction together like 3½

to write the fraction 7/3 as a whole or mixed number, we divide 7 by 3 to get 2 remainder 1. As it has a remainder it means it cannot be written as a whole number. the '2' from the division tells us the whole part. and the remainder tells us the fractional part.

so 7/3 can be written as

the denominator (bottom part) of fractional part should be the same as the original fraction (and if possible you might be able to simplify it afterwards)

as another example. writing 33/7 as a whole or mixed number.

33 ÷ 7 = 4 remainder 5. so 33/7 =

Re: write 7/3 as a whole or mixed number

Let's do 7/3 first:

123 123 1 is 7 numbers.

123 & 123 is the TWO.   123 123 1 is 2 and 1/3.

Now let's do 5/2:
12 12 1 is five numbers.  12 12 is TWO.   and the 1 at the end is 1/2.
So Two and 1/2.

Now let's do 10/4:
1234 1234 12 is ten numbers.  1234 1234 is TWO and 12 is 2/4, so Two and 2/4 is answer.
2 2/4 is answer.

Now let's do 14/5:
12345 12345 1234 is fourteen numbers, so 12345 12345 is TWO and 1234 is 4/5, so answer is 2 4/5.

Also the guy above me is right on the money!!
