How do you absorb this fact? (3^2)(4^2)=12^2

Like I think:  (3)(3)(4)(4) = (12)(12)
Then swap the order around in the multiplication.
(3)(4)(3)(4) = (12)(12)
(12)(12) = (12)(12)
Can anyone help me to remember this better
any other ways please, since I can't see
it spacially, since the two 2-D grids multiplied
become 4-D, but I guess the 4 sides are the
2 pairs of lengths; 3 and 4.
Thanks for any comments!

It's just one of those exponential properties that you need to remember: any two (or more) numbers with the same exponent being multiplied together results in the product of the numbers raised to the exponent.

Thanks, but I have to switch away from mercury for my
forum background color setting  because the LaTeX is blurry.

No prob, I had mercury for about a day then realized I could custom all my pages with mozilla. Now all my webpages are dark blue, regardless of their original. >.<, hope the identity helped.
