Division of Fraction

Problem is 10 divided by 3 1\3.
I know the answer is 3 but can't seem to figure out how to get it.
When I work it out I end up with:
10\1 divided by 10\3 (after inversing and making improper fractions)
then multiply across and I get 100\3
after making that into a mixed number I result in 33 1\3 however the answer is supposed to be 3. Logically 3 makes sense but when I work it out I can't get 3 for the life of me.

Re: Division of Fraction

Well, that is the same thing as saying:

So if the 2nd equation holds, the first must hold as well.

"In the real world, this would be a problem.  But in mathematics, we can just define a place where this problem doesn't exist.  So we'll go ahead and do that now..."
