Please explain solutions

I was looking for techniques to use to solve products of trig expressions so I found a problem on by tony123 which led me here to the above solutions

With Jane's solution, I don't understand what you do with the sextic equation in the end to find the product of the terms.

And with TPH's solution, I don't understand why you can assume the solutions are
