exp(x) ......what is this?

hi ,  i don't know what exp(x) is. i googled it and it said it was an exponential function (w/e that is)

so for example, what is exp(1)? or exp(2)? does it have something to do with e? like, exp(1) = 2.71828....??

thanks for your help.

exp(x) is just another way of writing

.

e = 2.718281828459045...

ln(x) is the natural logarithm of x, and it is the inverse function of exp(x). In other words, it basically does the reverse of what exp(x) does.

The definition goes something like

, then

Since it does the reverse,
