Simplifying

hey, i'm stuck with some simplifying questions and I have a big test soon.

The questions are simplify and expand 5 ( x+ 3 )
and also simplify and expand 7 ( 2x - 4 )
I was will the week we did these at school, can someone explain?

For any numbers a,b,c

a(b+c) = a*b+a*c

Applying that formula,

5(x+3) = 5*x+5*3 = 5x+15

7(2x-4) = 7*2x+7*(-4) = 14x-28
