Re: How can I solve this problem?

Hi;

Two runners finished a race in 80 seconds, another runner finished the race in 72 seconds, and the final runner finished in 68 seconds. The average of these times is ??

An average is computed by adding em all up and dividing by how many there are:

You have 2 guys who ran in 80 seconds
I guy in 72 seconds
1 fast guy in 68 seconds. You want the average seconds.

You add up all the seconds 80 + 80 + 72 + 68 = 300. Now you have 4 guys running. So you divide by 4. 300 / 4 = 75. That is the average number of secs.

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.
