symmetric to X axis

I had a multiple choice question which said to find the equation that is symmetric to the X axis.  It showed the correct answer as Y^2 = X.  I don't get it.  I know about the Y = key on the calculator but how do you put in Y^2?

Re: symmetric to X axis

Hi;

If you are trying to graph y^2 = x to prove that it is symmetric about the x axis, take a look at this.

You must solve for Y.

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.
