Re: Volume and surface area of right prism (Answer Check)

Here are the answers.

1)Volume=1344,Area=864

2)volume of square=864
Volume of rectangle=108
Total Volume=972

Area of square=720
Area of rectangle=180
total surface area=900

3)Volume of triangle=336
Area of triangle488

4)volume=288
Area=368

5)??

6)Total Volume=2520

Total surface area=1684

Re: Volume and surface area of right prism (Answer Check)

Hi;

For #1 the Total surface area is 864, correct. Volume is 1344, correct.

For #2 The volume of the rectangular box ( 12 * 12 * 6 ) is 864 correct. Volume of the smaller rectangular box is 6 * 6 * 3 = 108, correct. Total volume = 972, correct.

Re: Volume and surface area of right prism (Answer Check)

Whats the Surface Area of Question number 2,3 and 6 ?

Formula used to get surface area for the above mentioned answers is 2(L*W+L*H+W*H)

Re: Volume and surface area of right prism (Answer Check)

Hi haftakhan;

I am not getting that for the total area of #2.

Hi haftakhan;

I got 684 for the area of number 2.

Re: Volume and surface area of right prism (Answer Check)

Hi haftakhan;

You have not shown me any of your work on these problems. How can I assist if you do not meet me half way. I don't know where you are getting stuck because I don't see any work at all. The purpose here is to learn some math. If I just hand out answers than someone is going to think you are following the work. This is an injustice to you, believe me. Every shortcut you take now means taking the long way later, I know!!!!!

Now come on, show me what your work looks like for the area of # 3. It is not difficult but you have to try. This is important. Do it one side at a time. Forget the formulas you have. One side at a time. Give it a try.

Re: Volume and surface area of right prism (Answer Check)

Queation 6

Area of 2 rectangles=L*W+L*W=6*7+6*7=84
Area of sqare=9*9=81

Total Area=165

Now is it right ?

Re: Volume and surface area of right prism (Answer Check)

I have no idea what #6 is yet. I think we are working on #3. Your answers are so out of line they look like guesses. As I stated above, forget your formulas. Please do it 1 side at a time. I will work right along with you, but you will have to do your half of your homework.

Hi;

haftakhan wrote:

That's admirable. But how does that change what I said in post #11. Then please put him online, I will love to assist him. Hopefully he will understand the process and be able to get answers for himself when we are done. Please show his work. What are his answers to this? Homework is homework, he must make an effort. If he really tries and cannot do it then I will take him all the way. I don't know where he needs help. I don't know where those formulas came from and why they are wrong.

In addition if you are the one helping your brother, than you have the responsibility of learning this. Do you just intend to get all 20 answers from me? Do you trust my answers for your brother? Are you going to show him that in life it is correct to get your answers from someone else? Young people have a great capacity for work, let's exercise that! I will show him my methods. He can soak up more information than you are giving him credit for. His teacher obviously thinks he can do this, it is his homework. I have given you 1 and 2. But you have not learned from that, how could you?

I am doing a lot of harm here and no good, just giving away answers. Let's do this the right way.

Look at problem #3. It consists of 3 rectangles and 2 right triangles. We can compute the Total area by doing each of these in turn and adding them up. Can you figure what the area of each rectangle is? Come on give it a try.
