Please help with a few questions????

I know I should have paid more attention in high school, but now I could really use some help with a few math questions......Thanks in advance!

"Suppose you're given the formula R = s + 2t. If you know that s is three times greater than t, how could you rewrite the formula?"

A. R = 3(s + 2t)

B. R = 3(s + t)

C. R = 5s

D. R = 5t

Re: Please help with a few questions????

Hi Mister_Scary;

If you know that s is 3 times greater than t then you can say s = 3t. Now wherever you see an s you can substitute 3t for it, So:

R = s + 2t

Just replace the s with 3t.

R = 3t + 2t

R = 5t.

So D is the correct answer.

Careful you did a bit math there. You would not want to hurt your reputation.
