Finding the sides of an equilateral triangle.

Hello I need help sovling this problem so I can help my daughter in her math class.  I have not done this type of math in 20 plus years.  Thank you.

Problem: One side of an equilateral triangle increased by 15 is 29 less than three times another side.  If the sides are measured in inches, what are the measures of the three sides of the triangle?

Hi imauspilot;

Call one sid x. Since it is equilateral all three sides are x. Form the equation

x + 15 = 3x - 29  Subtract x from both sides.

15 = 2x - 29        Add 29 to both sides.

44 = 2x               Divide both sides by 2.

x = 22.

The sides of the triangle are 22,22,22.
