basic percentage problem

Hi i am hiring a holiday home for some friends and I. The TOTAL cost for 3 nights is $450.
7 people will be staying 3 nights, 4 people will be staying 2 nights and 1 person will be staying 1 night.
How do i work out how much each person needs to pay dependant on the amount of nights they are staying.

Re: basic percentage problem

Hi jess85;

Here is how I would do it.

7 people stay 3 nights = 21 nights
4 people stay 2 nights = 8   nights
1 person stays 1 night = 1   night

Total 30 nights. 450 / 30 = 15

So make 7 people pay 3* 15 = 45, 4 people pay 2*15 = 30 and one person pays 15.

7*45 = 315
4*30 = 120
1*15 =   15
---------------
        = 450

Yes, I did it in the easiest way I could, without the jargon. Charge each person 15 dollars per night.

Welcome to the forum and Merry Christmas and a Happy New year!
