Probability of an Item - Need help! Please

The lifetime of an ipod battery has a right-skewed distribution with a mean of 4,000 hours and standard deviation of 1,000 hours.  If you sample 75 ipod batteries, what is the probability that the sample mean is greater than 4200 hours?

Please show work and answer.

Thanks.

Re: Probability of an Item - Need help! Please

Hi mrcode;

The only thing I can say about a right skewed distribution is that the tail is on the right. In this case you can not have lifetimes less than 0 so it logical for this to right skewed.

But since I do not have PDF or any means to measure the skewness, I am unable to compute the probabilities.

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.
Always satisfy the Prime Directive of getting the right answer above all else.
