Hi

I need help with some geometry. I did question 3.1. (Draw the graph) but if you can please do it again so I can make sure it's right otherwise just do 3.2 - 4.4

Set f(x) = g(x) and solve:

x = 3 or x = -2

3.23)

Set f(x) = 0 and solve:

x = -3 or x = 3

-3 < x < 3

Set up a 2 x 2 set of simultaneous equations to get the undetermined coefficients:

Use the 2 points you know (0,2) and (3,9).

y = 2^x + 1

4.2)

The asymptote of y = 2^x +1 is I believe y = 1. Find this by taking the limit as x goes to minus infinity.

4.31)

The reflection across the y axis is:

The reflection across the x axis is:

Solve the equation:

Please add the steps to which you got the final answer. No need for explanations since i've done it before but I'm just rusty.

Can anyone else do the rest? Please do all the steps!

I did the graphs btw.

@ bobbym: please add your steps in the post so i'll know exactly how 'you' did it

eg. Products Using foil with all the steps
(x+3)(x+4)
=x^2 + 4x + 3x + 12
=x^2 + 7x + 12 - final answer

3.2:

Here is the plot

Clearly x = 0 is the only vertical asymptote.

As x tends to infinity we can see that this function tends to 2, therefore y = 2 is only horizontal asymptote.

There are no skew asymptotes as performing the division gives no whole part.

Rearranging the equation for x gives:

Clearly when y = 0 so x = -2 therfore (-2,0) is the intercept.

Ok now I get it.

Thanks a lot guys. I would definitely use this site more often when I'm stuck and I'll refer it to anyone who needs help.
