You do not need a square root. That is a solution, there maybe one more.

That is answer is not the square root of 158 because when you take
a square root it is always the positve answer.

I am looking for a nice form for it.

To search for an answer I used a computer. Once you have an answer you can
work backwards to a method sometimes.

It is clear that you only have to try solutions of the form

Also the graph seems to indicate at most 2 real solutions.

The floor x is an integer and so is the 11. Move them to the RHS.

Good morning/day everyone

Also the graph seems to indicate at most 2 real solutions.

But the second 'intersection' is ficticious.  FLOOR(0) is zero so the 'curves' do not cross there.  It's just an effect of the routine to make a graph look continuous.

btw:

There are no solutions other than negative ones so floor(x) is negative.

Since floor(x) is negative, you end up with

I'm not sure you can treat floor like a 'side-switchable' function.

floor(-2.5) + 3 = 0

but

floor(2.5) - 2 = 0

See what I mean?

also i was wondering if a method could work because i tried to do it that way and didn't get the answer,but if you were to help maybe i could gete it:
