Hi juantheron;

Most of the links miss the point of generating functions. They go on and on about the properties of them as power series while never using them for their purpose. That is like describing the paint job of a car as if that is what is important about an automobile.

Best two books are Generatingfuntionology by Herbert S. Wilf and Applied Combinatorics by Alan S. Tucker.
