Double your internet speed?

Hi;

I just watched this vid. Truly amazing! Wait till you get to the math, wunderbar. This dude is right up there with Einstein and Newton. Yes, Albert and Isaac. Here is the link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lG5cEik2ABY

First he exposes those rotten cable companies and those filthy cable manufactures for bilking us on a daily basis. Then comes the conspiracy theory: what those high speed providers are hiding from us.

Yep, you only need 2 ethernet cables, a scissor, 8 inches of electrical tape and good old fashioned American know how. He wraps one cable around the other and tapes the ends so no electricity will leak out.
I had a hunch my electricity was leaking out and this dude proves it.
Plugs that into his ethernet jack and whamo! Double you internet speed.

Proves it in two ways. First, a surface integral and then a net speed test. He gets double the download and 17 times the upload speed. The amazing thing is the cables are not connected in any way, just wrapped at the ends together. Must be some sort of electrical osmosis.

I wrapped four cables together and sealed the ends real good. No electrical leakage here I tell you. Guess what my speed is? Over 20 megabits download and 17 megabits upload. This is amazing because my provider only has a top speed of 10 megabits! Must be due to the quantum tunneling effect first predicted by Raymond Chow. Those 4 wires act like a giant antenna capable of sucking up all the bandwidth on my block!

I only need a few more cables...

Re: Double your internet speed?

This looks very ironic. Yup, it's ironic. I couldn't help but just laugh at the guy. I wonder if he is serious or is he just trolling, but I am even more concerned about are the people who actually did this.

No one did it. He knows little about mathematics and even less about circuitry. Also, he is not a very convincing liar.

Re: Double your internet speed?

I think it would've been even easier to say something like "s=v*t, so when we double s, the v (i.e. speed) is doubled!"

Re: Double your internet speed?

That wouldn't have convinced anybody either. The viewers noticed he switched his connection and that is what resulted in a different speed.

Re: Double your internet speed?

Even better.  I stuffed my ethernet cable straight into the soil outside the window.  That way the whole Earth acts as the increased area.  My connection is now so fast that it downloads pages before I even request them!

Re: Double your internet speed?

That is fine but I would ask that you do not do that. For one thing the electrical leakage will leech into the soil, causing the entire earth to glow like a lightbulb.

Re: Double your internet speed?

It's OK.  I saw your post two days ago (ahead of you posting due to my new internet speed) so I've already taken care of it.  I've connected my house electricity supply to the Earth to take off the excess, so now I have free electricity as well.  If there's any surplus I'll sell it back to the grid.

I'm just wondering if I can send a post back to 1975 and buy some Mircosoft shares.

Re: Double your internet speed?

I thought since ethernet cables are apparently magical. I just strapped mine to my head. Now I have perfect mind to modem communication.

Re: Double your internet speed?

No, Bob! If you increase the power of electricity in the UK, then the power of electricity in Australia will decrease! That could slow down phro's post for decades! The whole Australian part of the net would be cut off from the rest by a gap of a few years!

No, stefy, that's not so. Down here in the "Land of Tomorrow" that can never happen to us, for "tomorrow never comes".

Re: Double your internet speed?

hi phro,

Now I too am worried.  If Australia is the Land of Tomorrow, and also tomorrow never comes, that appears to mean that Australia never comes, which is strange gramatically, but appears to mean Australia doesn't exist.

So you are in some sort of virtual reality.

That would explain a lot.  smile

No wonder you disobey the laws of gravity.

Re: Double your internet speed?

I firmly believe that Phrontister or Phro does not exist.

Re: Double your internet speed?

There's a difference between {doesn't exist} and {virtual reality}.

If Phro doesn't exist then post 11 doesn't either => the statement about 'tomorrow never comes' wasn't said.

We are in danger of a logical paradox here.

{virtual reality} is a safer conclusion because you can learn things from vr.

This post 11:

No, stefy, that's not so. Down here in the "Land of Tomorrow" that can never happen to us, for "tomorrow never comes".

Oh I get it.  Because you believe he doesn't exist,  you also cannot see the post.

But I can, so it would appear this virtual reality works differently for each of us.  Maybe we are all in our own virtual reality.

Certainly the guy from post 1 is.

Re: Double your internet speed?

What post #1? Never mind that for a second.

The question is, if post #11 does not exist and you copied it and pasted it into post #16. What would it look like?

Re: Double your internet speed?

You guys are becoming confusing.

Let's see... The text from the non-existent post #11 was copied and pasted. But, although it was copied and pasted, it is a different object and doesn't depend at all on whether Phro exists or not. You should be able to see it, bobbym.

Bob posted this: "No, stefy, that's not so. Down here in the "Land of Tomorrow" that can never happen to us, for "tomorrow never comes"." Do you see that text in post #16? It should be inside some sort of a grey box...

Ever tried posting an empty post? If you have, you should know that an empty post is impossible to post.

Let's try this. Can you see the words:
No
stefy
that's
not
so.
?
