Forks are fun moves. Example: manipulate your opponents pieces in the right spot, then move your knight so it attacks both queen and castle at the same time. Your opponent may have noticed you could attack either piece but didn't figure on both at once.

Logic:
You are playing two chess games at the same time (first you move in the first, then your from the first moves then you move in the second then the second opponent moves and you get back to the first and so on)
Give a strategy (it's logical) when you are black in the first game and white in the second to be sure you'll get at least one point at the end.

There is enough complexity in chess to stop it being fully analyzed. (Though that is getting less so with increasing computing power.)
Odd strategies can work, for example there was a champion chess player who would lose most of his pieces ... all the way to victory!

I saw Derren Brown do that a while ago, except it was against 9 grandmasters. He played 8 of them against each other using the above strategy 4 times and somehow managed to beat the last one by himself.

1. e4, e6
It still would not work, white cold block the check by moving its bishop to f7.

I have done better than that before. I started with the position of the knight as it is at the start of a game and did it in 63 moves!

Mathematicians are supposed to be chess wizards. I'd say its a myth.
I always loose chess games by making one little mistake and blowing the game. Same as I do when I mess up a math problem. Only takes one tiny mistake to get a problem wrong.
