Re: Justice

Hi;

Why do you want to know?

In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them.
If it ain't broke, fix it until it is.

That is a very old viewpoint.

Do you know what it means? The justice you are advocating.

Re: Justice

How is that kind of justice supposed to bring peace?

Is it really justice? Does that work? Why was it abandoned?

Romans 3:10-11 wrote:

There is none righteous, no, not one:
There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

Who feels righteous enough?

To eastern people...tell me what have your gods done for you? My God died instead of me because He loved me...(since the penalty for sin is death and since God is righteous..  to fulfill that righteousness the blood had to be shed )..now tell me, is there a greater love than that.. to die for a sinner who spits on you and fornicates with other gods?

btw,"an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth" is very mathematical, don't you think?

there are few attributes of God.. we shouldn't mix them... this is what Jesus said

Luke 6:27-38  wrote:

But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,
Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
And unto him that smiteth thee on the one cheek offer also the other; and him that taketh away thy cloak forbid not to take thy coat also.
Give to every man that asketh of thee; and of him that taketh away thy goods ask them not again.
And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.
For if ye love them which love you, what thank have ye? for sinners also love those that love them.
And if ye do good to them which do good to you, what thank have ye? for sinners also do even the same.
And if ye lend to them of whom ye hope to receive, what thank have ye? for sinners also lend to sinners, to receive as much again.
But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil.
Be ye therefore merciful, as your Father also is merciful.
Judge not, and ye shall not be judged: condemn not, and ye shall not be condemned: forgive, and ye shall be forgiven:
Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.

Is this justice? No, it's mercy.

Re: Justice

Religion was always too extremal in some things.

According to you, what should happen to a man who's killed another man?

The question of what have their God done for them is improper, It is the same God. I suggest one follow Jesus' idea of mercy rather than the old testament idea of justice.

Re: Justice

We don't belong to the same what? Religion? I am a Christian too.

Wait, so, you believe that it's God's judgement, but also believe in the "eye for eye" justice?

Re: Justice

Well, all things considered, I do agree to some point with the Bible. But there are things, like the God killing almost all of mankind in a flood, that I really do not like.

Second, I am Christian mostly because I was born into a Christian family. I am still to young to decide which religion, if any, I want to belong to.

Third, as I got it, the whole Bible is just a series of stories that were documented by people who believed in God. How do I know that what they've written is truly God's word?
