Mean Values

Please show me the solution and explain.

The mean of A and B is 40
The mean of B and C is 35
A +B+C=100
Calculate the values of A,B and C

Re: Mean Values

Hi;

A = 30

B = 50

C = 20

Welcome to the forum.

Easiest solution is by setting up 3 simultaneous equations and solving them.

Re: Mean Values

hi Abby ❤ Choco

Welcome to the forum.

I would do this:

adding gives

After which it should be easy enough to get A and C.

Cool user name by the way!  smile

Re: Mean Values

Hi Admin Bob.  Sorry but the answer you posted was incomplete or blank  after "adding gives"... Which still left me pondering as how you got the values of A B and C. I'm still in Yr6 here in UK you see so I need a detailed solution. My Dad is helping me with this forum but unfortunately cannot help me with the math problems :-)

Re: Mean Values

Can you solve the set of equations? Do you need help there?

Re: Mean Values

Ok weird but your solution has come up after I posted the remark.
Thank you.

Are you okay with those equations?

Re: Mean Values

I suspect three simultaneous equations is a bit tough for Abby.

Give her a year or two on the forum and she'll be fine.

Hope you have got there now, Abby  smile

Bob

ps.  Now why didn't I think of that user name?  really cool.

She got what she wanted.  I think she'll be back next time her 'horrid' teachers set another nasty one.  (Don't forget; I know what an evil bunch they are smile

Re: Mean Values

Teachers are always doing that. Trying to force someone to think. It is evil and soon will be outlawed.

Re: Mean Values

I'm back and I need to know how to get the value of A and C? What is the equation for getting it?

Re: Mean Values

hi

You know B = 50

and that A + B = 80

So A should be easy.

Similarly for C
