Probability againI am stuck again. I have: #2 20130611 13:16:48
Re: Probability againHi; In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #4 20130611 13:39:01
Re: Probability againWe have 70 playing just baseball + 70 playing just soccer and 60 playing both. 70 + 70 + 60 = 200. The only thing left is those not doing any of that. 250 200 = 50. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. Re: Probability againWhy do you need a venn diagram to do that? 'And fun? If maths is fun, then getting a tooth extraction is fun. A viral infection is fun. Rabies shots are fun.' 'God exists because Mathematics is consistent, and the devil exists because we cannot prove it' 'Who are you to judge everything?' Alokananda #6 20130611 14:09:11
Re: Probability againExperimental math! When you get jumbled up as I do sometimes, I go to pictorial images because that is what the human mind understands best. It is part of the strategy of always coming up with an answer, even if wrong! An answer has a chance of being right. A blank page is never right. In mathematics, you don't understand things. You just get used to them. I have the result, but I do not yet know how to get it. All physicists, and a good many quite respectable mathematicians are contemptuous about proof. #7 20130612 00:34:29
