Mandy, you are doing very well keep up the good work. I am glad to see that Chris has been helping you and Bob Bundy is teaching you as well.

There may be an element of "too many cooks spoil the broth" if I try to teach you at the same time, but I am happy to jump in if you think it would help.

Bar charts, pie charts and line graphs are quite tricky to teach via a forum because a lot of pictures are needed. In fact you are using a new method of displaying graphics on this forum that I have not got any experience of yet.

One thing that I have thought of is drawing graphs using a spreadsheet and it could be used as a means of creating some exercises. The trouble with that is that spreadsheet graphs may be a little too easy to create and if you are preparing for any form of exam you are expected to draw the graphs yourself. However sometimes the graph is already drawn for you and you have to answer questions about it.

I see that you are doing questions involving negatives and positives: Remember two negatives cancel to make a positive in maths so -(-(1)) = 1 (minus minus 1 equals plus one).

:-)

Overall, I'm impressed. It took you so little time to understand things. I will prepare you the next lessons now.

Re: Mandy Jane's Corner

Alright, I want you to make two intersecting number lines like the one you did in the bar chart exercises.
Now, label them as x and y.

Next, we use the ordered pair (x,y) to represent any point in the line graph.
For example, A = (2,4)
So A would have x = 2, and y = 4.

Now, I want you to get a piece of paper and make the x and y axis and plot the points :
A = (5,4)
B = (4,5)
C = (0,4)
D = (6,0)
E = (3,2)

And post it here.

After that I will give you other exercises similar to the one I gave you earlier for the bar and circle charts.
Once you get a hand of this, I will teach you about the Cartesian Coordinate System.
Sorry that I am not able to make my text big, I'm on a mobile device.
I will see you tomorrow, almost midnight here!
Night.
Chris
