Re: 2015 UK General Election

The Crown Prosecution Service has just ruled that no Tories will be charged following the Tory election expenses investigation, in spite of the claims that 30 MPs breached electoral law by overspending in their campaigns two years ago.

Re: 2015 UK General Election

Major developments. The Conservatives recently released their manifesto, and it has been met with public fury: some polls are now only giving the Conservatives a single-digit lead over Labour. Last week, the bookies were offering 14/1 on Jeremy Corbyn to be the next Prime Minister. Those have now been slashed, with some offering as little as 4/1. It is possible that we might just see an upset.

Re: 2015 UK General Election

Campaigning has officially been suspended indefinitely due to the tragic terrorist attack in Manchester last night, which killed at least 22 and left at least 120 injured, many of whom were young children.

Re: 2015 UK General Election

Campaigning has been resumed (I thought it had been suspended indefinitely as per a Wiki article). The Conservatives are polling at 43%, Labour are on 38%, Lib Dems on 10%, UKIP on 4%. If this trend continues, we could see a hung parliament (and gives a majority of just 2 seats when translated into votes).

Re: 2015 UK General Election

Two shock YouGov polls suggest we are headed for a hung Parliament. The first is done using a different modelling technique to all the other previous polls and uses a very large sample size (50000+). It shows Conservatives barely edging out Labour, 41-38. Another using their usual modelling technique gives 42-39. The polling is weighted such that older votes are given more weight since they are far more likely to vote, compared to younger votes who are far less likely to vote. However, pundits suggest that because of Corbyn's popularity amongst younger voters, we could see a larger turnout among young people.

The electoral calculus still suggests a Tory majority, but it has been cut down to just 88 compared to the near-200 majority it was predicting just three weeks ago.

Re: 2015 UK General Election

Final results:

Conservatives - 318
Labour - 262
SNP - 35
Lib Dems - 12
DUP - 10
Sinn Fein - 7
Others - 6

Result: Hung parliament. Conservatives short 8 seats of a majority.

It is understood that Theresa May will attempt to form a Conservative minority government with some sort of deal with the DUP, possibly a confidence and supply agreement.

It wasn’t your signature; the spam links were in the quote in your post. (The spammer posted the links in post #32; you quoted the whole post, including the spam links, in post #33.) This was what you did.

The spammer John86045 posted something like this (#32):

Hey, check out the following.

<spam link>

You quoted it in your post (#33), which looked like this:

Initially a moderator removed the spam link in post #32, but left the link in the quote in post #33. That was why I made post #34. But everything has been taken care of by Ganesh; it’s all fine now.

Tip for future posting: If you wish to point out a spam post by quoting it, avoid including the spam links in your quote!

Ah, that is what I had suspected after I thought over it. I was a bit tired then. No need to clarify hereafter.

Re: 2015 UK General Election

At the bottom of each post there are four options: report, delete, edit and quote.  Delete and Edit are only available to the poster and moderators.  If you click Report,  it flags that post for moderators to look and take action.  That helps because a post may otherwise creep through un-noticed, particularly if it is followed by several more posts by others.

Options then are ban the spammer, edit the post, delete the post.
