im trying to make a final fantasy fan site forum lol its way hard. how do u make a good forum rod?
my 2 friends are SUPPOSED to be helping me but theyre stuck as well helppppppp!

Well, for starters, you need some good buttons, banners, images, layouts, and coding (if you're not getting free hosting from somewhere). But it takes a lot of work. Usually a forum also has a main webpage to be linked to.

Here's a good fansite. It was made by my old friend. Maybe you could study it and see what makes it good, etc.?

Tell me exactly how you are making this forum.

And MathsIsFun isn't the only one who owns a good forum.

i dont understand the images and skins and its too complicated
i put 10 forums and 3 catagories but i cant think of other things my friends are tyring to get people to join lol

Hmm...I'm unsure what the restrictions and limitations are with InvisionFreeForums. I vaguely remember the ability to edit forum buttons and skins.

I just started this forum one day, and after a while some nice people joined and they (inlcuding you) have made it what it is now.

To do it like I did, you would need a domain name (some-name.com), then get it hosted somewhere, then install the forum software (I use PunBB, see the link at the bottom corner). Then you would need some way to let people know about it!

But there are easier ways to do it - like invisionfree.

Even though it is new, the thing is that I won't even know that this is a Final Fantasy Board until I read one of the descriptions. A good forum always has a self-explanatory banner.

A good way to get members is to do a link exchange. Exchange links on some other forum somewhere, and you might just get yourself a member. It takes extremely long to get a lot of members.

Your forum needs a lot more added to it.

Yay! Ours has one!

I don't know how to add a banner to invision, but there should be a way.

The harder, but fun, part is to create one. Use a graphics program to put together some nice graphics, and some cool text on top.

It is definitely good to have a theme, that way (as Devanté said) you can visit other forums and say "if you want to discuss xyz then join us".

Use a simple one like that. If you like it I can make a better one.

Start simple - Then gradually grow complex, bigger, better.

EDIT: I can make the banner bigger if you want. Just tell me a pixel size or just tell me how much bigger you want it.

^^^Which is if you like colourful banners or...funny banners.

It is coming along ... the banner *is* a bit large (you get to see it and not the messages), maybe you could select just a part of it - such as the heads.

You have "general chat abour final fantasy" and then "general chat". How about the first one is just "final fantasy"?

Once you get all these things sorted out, it gets a lot easier.

Don't worry, it's pretty good.

It just needs a little work. Maybe reduce the banner a little. It coves the whole window when you first enter the URL to go to the site.
