Ratio. £360 shared between A, B, C and D...

Ratio A:B = 2:7

C and D each 1.5 x A

How much does B get?

I can get the correct answer. But I still have one question. I'll leave it for now.

How would you go about solving this?

I would proceed like this:

Let A's amount be x. => B's is 3.5x

C = 1.5x = D

=>   x + 3.5x + 1.5x + 1.5x = 360 =>  7.5x = 360 => x = 360/7.5 = 720 / 15 = 48

Check A = 48; B = 168; C = 72; D = 72 total = 48 + 168 + 72 + 72 = 360 tick
