How do u determine r, b, amt?

Identify the rate, base, and amount in the following application.
    In a class of 25 students, 8 received a grade of A.  What percent of the students received A's?

im not sure what you mean by rate base amount....

but answering the question itself.

to calculate a percentage, generally you would do

in this case

however, you might realise here, that theres no need to divide 8 by 25, think of it just as a fraction, and you get

I think it is this: I keep 2nd guessing myself!

RATE= 8
BASE=25
AMOUNT=% OF STUDENTS RECEIVING A'S
????

Re: How do u determine r, b, amt?

I think it is vice-versa, though, as I think "rate" is kinda short of "ratio", which is the percentage itself, which is 32% or 8:25. Not sure about the base and amount, though.

RATE=32
BASE=25
AMOUNT=NUMBER  OF STUDENTS RECEIVING A'S=8
I corrected the mistake in rate.

That said, Amount = Rate?
