Line graphs???

These data represent the population of a certain city.
Year    Population (in thousands)
1950        18
1960        23
1970        29
1980        32
1990        38
2000        42

(a)  Draw a line graph for the data.
(b)  Use the line graph to predict the population in the year 2010.

Is it best to do graphs in excel or word? Mine are looking horrible!!!

Re: Line graphs???

Excel, without a doubt. Word is meant for typing and generally stuff involving.. words. Excel is much better for this job.

I find that using the graph function and drawing scattergraphs with lines works better than actually telling it to do a line graph. But maybe that's just me. You could try that though.

You can also tell Excel to draw a line of best fit on your graph, and you could use that to predict the 2010 population. Or, if you wanted to be a bit more accurate, you could tell it to show the equation of its line of best fit, and then use that equation to work it out.

Why did the vector cross the road?
It wanted to be normal.
