well i dont know about that composite derivitave, do you mean chain rule?

They are in fact the same thing, but stated in different ways.

The composition rule is:

f(x) = g(h(x)), then f'(x) = g'(h(x))*h'(x)

they are the same thing though tongue when i first learnt the chain rule, i learnt it int he function notation, then in the above notation.
