Okay Lulu.
Here's the deal.
Remember, if you are doing the seven's tables, then they all have a 7 in them.
So say you forget what 7 times 8 is.
But you remember what 7 times 7 is, 49.
Now, since 7x7 and 7x8 both have sevens in them, you are doing your sevens tables.
So that's why you add 7 to 49 to get 56, and 56 is 7 times 8.

See, 7 x 7 is 49, and 7 x 8 is seven more, or 56.

Let's try another one.
Say you remember 3 x 6 is 18, but can't remember 4 x 6.
What is the same about 3 x 6 and 4 x 6??
The same number is the 6, so
we are doing the 6 tables.
So add six to 3 x 6, so add 6 to 18, and get 24.
So 24 is 4 x 6.

Something to notice is that the 9 tables, all the digits add to 9.
If you multiply 9 by 3, then start with a 2, or 27.

If you multiply 9 and 4, then start with a 3, or 36.

If you multiply 9 and ?, then start with the number that comes before ?.

Like if you do 9 times 8, then you start with a 7.

If you do 9 times 6, then you start with a 5.

If you do 9 times 3, then you start with a 2.  Did you read that somewhere before?

9, this is 1 x 9, also written 09, but who would write 09, when you can just write 9.

18, see 1 + 8 is 9.   This is 2 x 9, so because it is 2 times 9, then start with 1, not 2, so 18 because 1 + 8 is 9.

27, see 27 is 3 x 9.  This is 3 x 9, so start with a 2, not a 3, and 27 is right because 2 + 7 is 9.
36, 3 + 6 is 9, 4x9 is 36.
45, 4 + 5 is 9, 5 x 9 is 45.
54
63
72
81, 9 times 9, so starts with 8.

THE SEVEN'S TABLES -- FINALLY A FUN WAY TO DO IT
Lulu, here's a nice way to multiply by 7.
You have to get good at doubling numbers to do it.
For 7 x 1, just take the 1 and double it to 2 and double it to 4 and add the 1 + 2 + 4 and get the answer.
Did you get the answer for 7 x 1.  Yes, it is 7.

Now what is 7 x 2 ?  just take the 2 and double it to 4 and double it to 8, and add them up.
2 + 4 + 8 is 14.  Yeah. 7 x 2 is 14.

Now what is 7 x 3 ?  Just take the 3 and double it to 6 and double it to 12 and add them up.
3 + 6 + 12  is the same as 7 x 3.

Now what is 7 x 4 ?  Just take the 4 and double it to 8 and double it to 16 and add them up.
4 + 8 + 16 is the same as 7 x 4.

Now what is 7 x 5?  Just take the 5 and double is to 10 and double it to 20 and add them up.
So 5 + 10 + 20 is the same as 7 x 5.

Now what is 7 x 6?
Just take the 6 and double it to 12 and double that to 24 and add them up.
6 + 12 + 24 is the same as 7 x 6.
