finding the mean number

i need help to find the mean number of this equasion the amount of people passing in cars, as follows:1 occupant in 50 cars
                        2 occupants in 25 cars
                        3 occupants in 20 cars
                        4 occupants in 3 cars
                        5 occupants in 2 cars

To get the mean (which is the average, right?), just multiply the number of occupants with the number of cars, add them all up, and divide the number from the total number of cars:

Total
Occupants             Cars
2 x 25 = 50             25
3 x 20 = 60             20
4 x  3  = 12              3
5 x  2  = 10              2
          =132         =50

132 / 50 = 2.64

So the mean is 2.64

Johnny's method is right, but he missed the cars who only had one person.
You need to add 1x50 = 50 to the amount of people, and 50 to the amount of cars.

This makes the actual answer 182/100 = 1.82


Why did the vector cross the road?
It wanted to be normal.
