I am haveing alot of trouble trying to fully understand converting recurring decimals into frcations.  so far I have found a few different methods some of which don;t make sense but then when one does make sense and I test it out on a different problem it doesn't work.  I was just looking at your solution for converting 0.99999...... and you came up with 1 whereas I came up with9/10 by trying out 2 of the methods that I think I do understand.

EG. x = .9
10x = 9
10x-x= 9-x
9x=8.1
81/90 = 9/10

OR

0.9 = 0.9/1 = 9/10

Please if anyone can help me out I am also having problems with these type of decimals when there is a number on the left of the point.
