of course
I'm wanting to refresh the memory of my high schoolers, who are having trouble doing arthematic without a calculator. For long division I want to have them show the remainder as a fraction. I can't seem to find resoucre material that does that?
For example 145 divided by 12 I want shown as 12 and 1/12th - not 12r1. 12r1 is not a number that has meaning away from the division problem - for example to use in another part of a word proble. 12r1 could be the answer to 253 divided by 21 which would be 12 and 1/21st. So clearly, all 12r1's are not equal and the only way to really express the answer is with a fraction or decimal remainder. However, I can't seem to find any explanations of long division or anything that really instructs on how to express the remainder in a useful way....
